More of our Favorite Things, Part 3

Hey Friends! Here is another edition of our favorite things! What are yours?

thinkThin Protein Bars

I found the thinkThin protein bars at Trader Joe's a few weeks back and have been eating them ever since.  I have never been a "protein bar/meal replacement" type of girl, but these are just different.  I personally prefer the thinkThin Brownie Crunch Protein Bar.  I have this in the morning with an apple or a banana and I am full and feeling good.  Plus they taste good.

Origins Ginzing

GinZing™
I'm always in search of the perfect eye cream to cover up my horrible under-eye bags and puffiness. This is the only product I've found that does both. It instantly reduces dark eye circles. Bags and puffiness virtually disappear. This cream uses caffeine from coffee beans, ginseng and magnolia extract to wake your eyes up, refresh and restore tired eyes. And it smells good too.

Bare Minerals Blemish Therapy
Blemish Therapy
I'm in my thirties and I still break out. It's embarrassing! They aren't the tiny, hardly notice them ones either. They are the huge, I have a mountain on my forehead ones. I've tried everything from over-the-counter creams to doctor prescribed ones. This product is the only one I've found that actually helps it disappear without totally drying out your skin too!

It's a powder that you just dab on your blemish. It even helps cover it up when using it during the day. My breakouts are gone within a day or two with this. I don't know how I survived before without this. You can find it online at Bare Minerals, Ulta or even Amazon. It's about $18 but a little goes a long way. So one of these will last for a long time.

carry onEssie Nail Polish, Carry On

This is the perfect nail polish shade for Fall. It's a deep romantic burgundy. I love dark colors to bring you into the Fall season. Check it out today.

Lil Wayne's - Sorry 4 the Wait Mixtape

If you love rap then you will love this CD.  Lil Wayne dropped this CD back in July to say sorry to his fans for the inevitable delays of Tha Carter IV cd and he uploaded it on the internet for his fans to download for FREE.  Now that's some lovin.  Lil Wayne freestyles over popular songs like Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" and Drakes "Marvins Room."

Virtual Book Club, The Help

This past weekend, my friends and I got together for our monthly book club. We choose books that have been or will be made into movies; that way the slackers can just watch the movie version or wikipedia it :). I think there are almost 20 of us in the book club now. Usually about 6-8 girls attend depending on who is available. This month's book was The Help, by Kathryn Stockett.

Book Club: Our Next Book Is...

Now I don't know if you've ever been to a book club but ours is mostly a girl's night with a little talk of the book. We mostly spend the night drinking lots of wine, catching up, chatting about relationships, visits to the therapist, who Jennifer Aniston is dating and more.

This time almost everyone read the book, which is a new record for us! We also talked about this book more than we have ever talked about any other book. I think that just goes to show you what a hit The Help is!

Did you know The Help was rejected 60 times before someone wanted to publish it? Now it's a best seller and has been the number one movie for several weeks now. I bet all those people who rejected it are kicking themselves right now.

Have you been reading The Help along with us? We hope so.

Here are a couple questions/topics that we brought up during our book club.
What did you think of the book?

Who was your favorite character? Ours was a mix between Aibileen and Celia.

What did you think about Minny being the strongest of the group of maids, yet so powerless when it came to her husband?

What do you think about Aibileen being given the Miss Myrna columns? We liked it and that she was to be paid the same rate as Skeeter. That job mixed with the profits from future sales of the book, she really will be able to start her life over.

What did you think about Skeeter's mom going into remission from cancer? Do you think it was timely considering Skeeter was headed to New York?

Did you know Kathryn Stockett had a maid growing up herself? She wanted to write a book from the voice of "The Help" and didn't want it to be the stereo-typical version like you see in the movies.

Let us know your thoughts about The Help!

We will announce our next virtual book club pick soon, so stay tuned!

Random Celebrity Facts! Did you know....

Actor Mark Wahlberg has a third nipple!

Tim Allen was a convicted drug dealer before becoming famous.  In 1978, Allen was caught transporting 1.4ibs of cocaine and instead of going to jail he ratted out other drug dealers he knew.  He ended up spending only 28 months in prison rather than life.

Lil Wayne was an honor student in high school, but he dropped out at the age of 14 to focus on a musical career. President Barack Obama has referenced Lil Wayne in at least two public speeches. "You are probably not that good a rapper. Maybe you are the next Lil Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school," stated by Obama.

Katie Holmes says that she had a poster of Tom Cruise hanging up in her bedroom when she was a little girl.
Denise Richards has not only dated Charlie Sheen but she has also reportedly dated the following men: John Stamos, Scott Baio, Patrick Muldoon, Matt Dillon, Paul Walker, Dean Cain and Bradly Cooper.

This new lotion from Garnier is supposed to reduce the appearance of darks spots from aging, blemishes, etc. Its has pure Vitamin C to break up the dark spots and lift them away. I just started using it a few weeks ago, but I feel like its working. My skin just looks better. And it will get better the longer I continue to use it. It contains SPF to keep away the harmful rays.  Bonus! It smells amazing! I would use it on that alone.

The Emmy's Fashion Hits and Misses

The Emmy's are not only the best award show for our favorite television stars and programs. It is also one of the best nights for Hollywood Fashion! The red carpet pre-show is seriously one of my favorite things to watch!  Reds were seen the most on the red carpet this year.

Here are some of our favorites looks of the night and fashion bombs as well.

Our Favorites

Kate Winslet, She was one of the red beauties and she looked stunning in this dress.

Sofia Vergara, the Modern Family actress looked gorgeous  from head to toe.

Julie Bowen from Modern Family as well looked great! Loved it!

Christina Hendricks from Mad Men, I really liked this. She didn't have her girls out as much as she sometimes does. Loved the dress color with her hair too.

Misses of the Night

Gwyneth Paltrow, She usually looks fabulous but I am not a fan of this dress and the whole bare mid-riff section.

Heidi Klum, She may produce and judge Project Runway but her dress was a miss this year.

Jayma Mays from Glee, Not a fan of this ballerina-ish/cake-topper look.

Julianna Margulies, So glad this Good Wife won the Emmy but I wasn't a fan of this boxy top of her dress.

Who were your Emmy favorites and faux-pas' this year?

2011 Emmy's, Our Favorite Moments

The 2011 Emmy's were last night. The best night for all our favorite television shows, actors and actresses.

Here are our top 5 favorite moments of last night!

5- The queens of comedy in a beauty pageant.

For the best actress in a comedy category, the actresses one by one joined each other on the stage, as their name was called. They were holding hands as if in a beauty pageant before the winner was announced. And the hilarious hometown girl, Melissa McCarthy (from Bridesmaids) won for Mike and Molly. Love all these funny ladies!

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nominees Tina Fey, Martha Plimpton, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Poehler, Edie Falco, Laura Linney

4- Mark Walberg

I had to throw my boy in here. He looked good last night! He also received a couple shout outs, from Boardwalk Empire's Martin Scorcese and as the producer of anything HBO (He's the producer of both hits Entourage and Boardwalk Empire).

3- Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon fight. I love anything my boy Jimmy Fallon does. The two Jimmy's were hilariously picking a fight and then rolling around on the floor before presenting their award. I just wish their mikes were working a little better to hear what all went down.

Boys will be boys: Presenters Jimmy Kimmel (L) and Jimmy Fallon fight over an acceptance speech in Fallon's pocket

2- Jersey Shore Skit, where Jane Lynch got all Jersey-ed up as Donatella the creator of anything Jersey on Television: Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of New Jersey. She was hilariously dipping her make-up brush in a bag of Cheetos before applying to get her Jersey glow!

1- Lonely Island Performance

In case you don't know who The Lonely Island is, its a musical trio made up of SNL digital-short writers, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Toccone. They had a star-studded performance featuring Akon, Michael Bolton, John Stamos, Maya Rudolph and Ed Helms.

You can watch the hilarious performance here:

Crock Pot Girls

Crock Pot Girls, You may have noticed that all of your Facebook friends recently have started liking this page. But what is it?

Crock Pot Girls, is just three moms who got together and created a Facebook page sharing their favorite Crock Pot recipes. It's become a huge phenomenon, within two weeks they had over a million 'likes'.

Check out their page here: http://www.facebook.com/Crockpotgirls

Copycats are even starting to pop up on Facebook. So much so that the original 'Crock Pot Girls' put a note on their page, saying this was their only Facebook page and others even using their pictures, weren't them.

What's with this latest craze? Or have Crock Pots always been the go-to meal maker?

I remember my mom making crock pot dishes when I was little. I bought my own crock pot a few years ago.

It really is the easiest way to make a delicious meal, whether you are busy working or busy with your kids. But it seems like it's cool again to use the crock pot.

So crock on!
